Along with this, Justice Kaushik Chanda has also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for tarnishing the image of the judiciary.
Justice Kaushik Chanda said during the hearing, “The manner in which the Chief Minister of West Bengal has leveled the allegations is a well-planned ploy to malign the judge’s image.” Let us tell you that Mamata Banerjee had raised questions on the impartiality of Justice Kaushik Chand, who heard her petition challenging the Nandigram election result. Along with this, the judge said, ‘The amount of fine imposed on them will be spent for the welfare of the families of the lawyers affected by Corona.’
Let us inform that Mamta Banerjee had demanded the removal of Calcutta High Court Judge Kaushik Chand, who was hearing a petition filed against Shubhendu Adhikari, who had joined the BJP from Trinamool Congress. Mamta had alleged that Judge Kaushik Chand has links with the BJP. After this, the application of Mamta Banerjee was rejected by Justice Kaushik Chand himself. However, people related to this whole matter say that Justice Kaushik has decided not to hear the matter further on the basis of personal reasons. With this decision, he recused himself from the bench.
What is the demand in the petition
In her petition, Trinamool Congress chief Banerjee has accused the BJP MLA of adopting corrupt practices under Section 123 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. Banerjee also claimed in the petition that there were discrepancies in the counting process. According to party sources, the Trinamool alleged that EVMs have been tampered with and there is discrepancy in their numbers, the polling process was also stopped repeatedly and the information was not given by the election officials. The party alleged that valid votes in favor of Banerjee were rejected while invalid votes in favor of BJP were also counted.

Let us tell you that the Trinamool Congress had demanded the counting of votes again, alleging rigging in the counting process. The Election Commission had said that Shubhendu Adhikari won from Nandigram seat by 1,956 votes. The commission confirmed that Adhikari got 1,10,764 votes while his rival Banerjee got 1,08,808 votes. According to the Election Commission website, Meenakshi Mukherjee of CPI(M) came third with 6227 votes.
