Mahindra Thar will have to wait for 2022, waiting period for 1 year- The country’s leading automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra launched the next-generation model of its famous offering SUV Mahindra Thar in October last year. Although this SUV has been very popular among the youth for a long time, but there was a different craze about its new model. According to media reports, the waiting period of this SUV has reached almost 1 year in some cities of the country.
So far, the company has registered bookings for more than 50,000 units. Mahindra has also increased this production due to heavy demand and has dispatched about 12,744 units till the month of March. But due to the huge gap between demand and supply, its waiting has increased significantly.
According to the report published in Gaarwadi, dealers in some cities have reported that the waiting period of the new Mahindra Thar has reached one year. At the same time, the company’s plant in Nashik has also been affected due to the lockdown in Maharashtra. It is believed that in this situation the waiting period will increase even further.
Why Waiting is increasing: While high demand is responsible for increasing waiting period, on the other hand, due to lack of supply of semiconductor, this SUV is not reaching people easily. Actually, due to this semiconductor, many vehicles are standing at the dealership because they cannot be delivered without a 7.0-inch infotainment system. It is also being told in some media reports that this shortage of semiconductor will continue till 2022.
The Mahindra Thar is available in the market with two engine options. In one of its variants, the company has used a 2.0-liter capacity petrol engine, while the other variant has a 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine. Its petrol engine generates 150 PS power and diesel engine 130 PS power. These engines come with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. The price of this SUV ranges between Rs 12.10 lakh and Rs 14.15 lakh.
