Kullu Police Slap Case: Who is Singham IPS Gaurav Singh who clashed with ASP- After the convoy of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari left in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, the image of Himachal Pradesh has been tarnished due to the confrontation of two police officers in front of CM Jai Ram Thakur’s car. The image of Kullu SP Gaurav Singh has got a lot of stains. Gaurav Singh is a strong and honest young IPS (IPS), but his image has been tarnished by the latest case. He had previously slapped the CM Security in Incharge. However, the debate was started by CM Security Incharge Brajesh Sood.
Gaurav Singh, who became the youngest SP in Himachal, has been in the news for his work in the past. He is also called ‘Singham’ because of his strong image. Gaurav Singh, a 2013 batch IPS officer, has already served in Baddi as an ASP. His tenure was to teach a lesson to the mining and drug mafia. The public appreciates the functioning of this officer and the public representatives and people of BBN wanted that they should be SP here, so that the drug and mining mafia can be curbed.
Gaurav Singh is a resident of UP
Gaurav Singh was born on 1 July 1990 in Agra in an ordinary family. His father’s name is B. Singh and his mother’s name is Kiran Devi. Gaurav has served as ASP in Shimla, Baddi and Kangra and was presently SP Kullu. Now after the slap scandal, he has been sent on leave.
Came to the limelight from the methodology
During his tenure at Baddi in Solan district, Gaurav Singh also solved two cases of ATM theft, chain snatching and murder. He worked here without any pressure and had challenged the tipper of a former Congress MLA’s wife. Immediately after challenging the tipper of the MLA’s wife in the then Baddi, the government had posted him as ASP in Kangra. The MLA had sent three DO notes to the CM for his transfer.
Gaurav Singh cannot tolerate that there should not be any stain on the hands of Himachal Police, which is known throughout the country for honesty, and that is why he has taken action against 26 police and home guard jawans who are not doing their jobs properly, out of which 22 in Lahaul – consisted of Spiti and 4 of Baddi. During his 7 months tenure as ASP in Baddi, Gaurav Singh caught 177 cases of illegal mining and collected a fine of about Rs 26 lakh. Similarly, 13 cases of drugs and 75 cases of illegal liquor business were caught. Later, due to political pressure, he was transferred by the Virbhadra government.
Conferred with DGP Disk Award
Gaurav Singh was honoured with the DGP Disc Award by the then DGP Sanjay Kumar on 30 June 2017. He received this award in the year 2015 for solving blind murder in Baluganj of Shimla district and for overall good work.
