It states that any person can donate blood only after 14 days of getting the vaccine. In addition, a person who has been infected with corona can also donate blood 14 days after the RTPCR report is negative. The vaccine is also said to be completely safe for breastfeeding women. However, no decision has yet been taken on the vaccination of pregnant women. Discussions are being held with the National Technical Advisory Group in this regard.
The government has issued this guideline following the recommendations of the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Kovid (Negvac). The Expert Group has made recommendations based on new research reports and global scientific evidence on the vaccine. Accordingly, the effect of the vaccine on people infected with corona has been observed after three months. The Union Health Ministry has written a letter to all states and union territories in this regard and directed the officials associated with vaccination to take note of these recommendations and take necessary steps for effective implementation.
The expert group has said that even after taking a dose of vaccine if a person becomes corona infected, the second dose will be given only after three months of its recovery. Similarly, people suffering from serious illness or admitted in hospital and ICU will have to wait for four to eight weeks after discharge for vaccination.
