Delhi Rain News: After 48 hours- it may rain in Delhi: which is suffering from heat- Delhi’s wait for monsoon is increasing. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is no possibility of monsoon in Delhi and adjoining areas for the next 6-7 days. Delhi-NCR, which is suffering from the heat, may receive light rain from the evening of July 2 to July 3. With this, there is a possibility of getting relief from the heat with a drop in the temperature. According to the IMD, the temperature in Delhi will remain above 42 degree Celsius on Thursday as well.
Monsoon is not expected in Delhi till 7th July
Kuldeep Srivastava, head of the Regional Forecasting Center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), said, ‘Delhi-NCR may receive light rain from the evening of July 2 to July 3. Due to this the temperature may drop slightly. Conditions are not favorable for Monsoon for the next 6-7 days. Monsoon is not likely to arrive in Delhi NCR and rest of the region till around July 6-7.
After 9 years, Delhi is so longing for monsoon
Normally the monsoon reaches Delhi on 27th June and spreads across the country by 8th July. The last time monsoon reached Delhi was on July 7 in 2012.
What is the Monsoon condition now?
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is currently passing through 26° North Latitude and 70° East Longitude and passing through Barmer, Bhilwara, Dholpur, Aligarh, Meerut, Ambala and Amritsar. Southwest Monsoon is not very likely to advance into Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, rest parts of Haryana and Punjab and Chandigarh and Delhi for the next 6-7 days.
Heatwave prevailing in Delhi
With the absence of monsoon, Delhi on Monday witnessed heat wave conditions for the first time this summer and recorded 43 degrees Celsius, the highest so far this year. Heat wave conditions prevailed in Lodhi Road, Ridge and Pusa areas, where temperatures were recorded at 42.6 degrees Celsius, 43.4 degrees Celsius and 44.3 degrees Celsius, respectively, seven notches above normal. On the other hand, Najafgarh recorded 44.4 degree Celsius, Pitampura 44.3 degree Celsius and Mungeshpur 44.3 degree Celsius. There was also an outbreak of severe heat wave at these places.
It was time for monsoon in Delhi, the heat was on
According to the IMD, ‘Lu’ is declared in the plains when the temperature is more than 40 degrees Celsius or 4.5 degrees Celsius above normal. A ‘severe’ heat wave is declared when the temperature is 6.5 degrees above normal. Earlier, the Meteorological Department had predicted the arrival of Monsoon to Delhi on June 15. However, westerly winds are stopping it further over Delhi, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.
Srivastava said, “Normally heat wave prevails in the national capital till June 20 and after that the temperature starts decreasing. This time the temperature is probably rising due to the delay in monsoon. He said that there has been no rain for the last three days and warm westerly winds are blowing over a large part of Northwest India, where the monsoon has not yet reached.
Monsoon has reached most parts of the country
After arriving two days late in Kerala, Monsoon had advanced to the entire country covering East, Central and adjoining North-West India seven to 10 days before normal.
