Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has also intensified its activities in the state. The party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal reached Punjab on Monday. The statement he gave here about Navjot Singh Sidhu has also heated up the market of speculation. There are speculations that Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu may join the Aam Aadmi Party.
When asked a question in this regard, Arvind Kejriwal also did not deny, which is giving strength to such possibilities. Addressing media persons in Amritsar, Kejriwal said that the Aam Aadmi Party’s chief ministerial candidate in Punjab would be a Sikh, on whom the whole of Punjab is proud. Meanwhile, when asked whether Navjot Singh Sidhu is eyeing any role in the Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal said, “He (Sidhu) is a leader of Congress and I have a lot of respect for him.”
Kejriwal did not deny speculation
Kejriwal said, “Sidhu is a respected leader of Congress. In such a situation, such loose talk should not be done about him. Kejriwal did not categorically deny these speculations. On this basis, it can be inferred that some khichdi is definitely cooking between Sidhu and you. However, Arvind Kejriwal also said that if there is any development in the direction (of Sidhu joining AAP), he will definitely tell.
Former IG joined AAP
Meanwhile, in Amritsar, former IG Vijay Pratap joined the Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of Kejriwal. On his joining AAP, Kejriwal said that Kunwar Vijay Pratap is not a politician. He was called the common man’s policeman. We are all here to serve the country. It is with this spirit that he has joined the party today. He further said that I want to assure the people that the culprits in the insult of Guru Granth Sahib in Bargadi will definitely be punished and there will be justice in the matter. When questioned on AAP’s CM candidate in Punjab, Kejriwal said that the party’s CM candidate in the state would be from the Sikh community, on which the whole of Punjab is proud.
Confrontation between Congress and Sidhu
Here, there is a ruckus in the Congress over Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu. The high command committee had given the formula to make Navjot Singh Sidhu the deputy CM in the state, which he has rejected. Meanwhile, the party has also offered him a post at the national level in the organization, but that too has been rejected by Sidhu. Sidhu says that he is only interested in Punjab politics.
