Pakistan’s parliament to decide fate of French ambassador after protests- The government of Pakistan seems to be bowing once again in front of fierce protesters demanding the return of the French ambassador. A proposal will now be brought in the parliament of Pakistan on Tuesday whether the French ambassador should be removed from the country or not. Thousands of supporters of the radical organization Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) took to the streets after the uproar over the cartoon of Prophet Mohammad. Over the past week, supporters staged a fierce demonstration in Lahore.
French President Emmanuel Macron favoured the country’s right to print cartoons of Prophet Mohammed on behalf of the magazine. There were demonstrations against the French ambassador to Pakistan for several months thereafter. Explain that the Muslim community considers the cartoons of Prophet Mohammed to be blasphemous.
Pakistan Home Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that the government is ready to vote on the suspension of the French ambassador and in return the TLP has promised that it will end its sit-in protest across the country.
However, some TLP leaders have told news agency AFP that their performance will continue. Pakistan’s National Assembly has called an emergency session on Tuesday afternoon, where the proposal will be moved. However, it is not decided when voting on the proposal will take place.
Pakistani PM Imran Khan also requested the radical group on Monday to end violent demonstrations to expel the French ambassador from the country. Addressing the nation, Khan had said that it would harm the country, France would not make any difference to it.
