Kejriwal government has given big relief: 15% reduction in the fees of private schools- The parents of Delhi have got a big relief during the Corona period. Giving relief to the parents facing a financial crisis during the Corona period, the Delhi government has ordered all private schools to cut the fees collected by 15 percent in the academic year 2020-21. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Thursday that during the Corona period, when all the parents are facing a financial crisis, a 15 percent reduction in fees will be a big relief for them. The school management will not stop the students from participating in any activities of the school on the ground of non-payment of outstanding fees due to the financial constraints of the parents.

He said that for example, if the monthly fee of the school in the financial year 2020-21 has been Rs 3000, then the school will be able to charge only Rs 2550 from the parents after deducting it by 15 percent. Schools have been instructed that if they have taken more fees from parents than this, then the schools will have to refund that fee or adjust in further fees.

The High Court has ordered a 15 percent reduction in the fees of private schools to prevent profiteering and commercialization in the time of Corona. This order of the Delhi government is for all the 460 private schools that had appealed in the High Court. Apart from these 460 schools, all other schools in Delhi will follow the fee-related instructions issued by the Delhi government on 18 April 2020 and 28 April 2020.

The order states that the students will have to pay the fees in monthly instalments over 6 months. Apart from this, if the school can give some more concessions on its behalf. If any student is not able to pay the fees then the school should show sympathy and consider such matters.
