Who is HK Dwivedi?
After this, HK Dwivedi has also taken over the charge of the new Chief Secretary of Bengal. Dwivedi is a 1988 batch IAS officer and is one year junior to former Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay. Till now she was working as Home Secretary of the state and she has long administrative experience.
HK Dwivedi has been working with the Mamata government of Bengal for a long time. He was also looking after the Parliamentary and Statistics Department of the state. He has been a member of Bengal Electricity Corporation since 2012 and in such a situation his experience of working in the bureaucracy of the state is very old. Why change chief secretary?
In fact, Alapan Bandopadhyay, the former Chief Secretary of Bengal, was about to retire on May 31, but the Center gave him a three-month extension on May 24 after the recommendation of the Bengal government. The controversy started when the Center transferred him to Delhi on 28 May. CM Mamta became very angry with this decision and targeted her fiercely at the central government.
Mamata Banerjee on Monday allowed Chief Secretary Alapan Bandopadhyay to retire and appointed him as her advisor. Describing the decision of the central government as unconstitutional, Mamta said that the Bengal government is not ready to send Alapan to Delhi.
At present, Alapan’s retirement is yet to be approved by the central government. According to the information, action can also be taken against them for not following the order of the Center.
