Nirmala Sitharaman gets Finance Ministry: In the first tenure of the Modi government, first Minister of Commerce and Industry and then Nirmala Sitharaman, who has been appointed by the Ministry of Defense, has now been given the responsibility of the Finance Ministry. She has become the country’s first full-time women finance minister. While being Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi kept the Finance Ministry between 1970-71. Nirmala Sitharaman gets Finance Ministry
During the first tenure of the Modi government, Nirmala was given the charge of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce as the Minister of State for Independent Charge. After this he was sworn in as a cabinet minister and he was made defense minister. Now in the second term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has entrusted him with the responsibility of the Finance Ministry.
Nirmala was born on 18 August 1959 in a simple family of Tamil Nadu. His father worked in the railway and mother used to handle the house. Father’s job continued to be transferred repeatedly, due to which he lived in many parts of Tamil Nadu.
Graduation in Economics
Sitharaman did his early studies from Tiruchirappalli of Tamil Nadu. He did his graduation in economics. After this, he came to the Jawahar Lal Nehru University of Delhi for the masters. After this, he researched his PhD in the Indo-European Textile Trade.
Join’s BJP in 2008, a spokesman for two years
Nirmala joined politics and joined the BJP in 2008. Two years later, he had become a BJP spokesperson. Subsequently, on 26 May 2014, he was given the post of Minister of State in the Modi Government.
