Jio adds 85 lakh subscribers in December:- Reliance Jio Regularly to increase its subscriber base in December because other most telecom operators Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel lost users during this period, data released by the Indian Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRAI) on Wednesday. Reliance Jio added 85.6 lakh customers during the reporting month, its total customer base was 28.01 crore.

“At the end of December 2018, total wireless subscribers (GSM, CDMA, and LTE) increased from 1,171.76 million (117.17 million) to 1,176.00 million (117.6 million) at the end of December 2018, thereby increasing the monthly growth rate to 0.36 percent, “TRAI said in a statement. “At the end of November 2018, urban membership increased from 664.54 million to 666.28 million, and during this period, the rural membership increased from 529.18 million to 531.59 million, the monthly growth rate of urban and rural membership was 18 December 0.26 percent and 0.46 percent respectively, “it added.

Vodafone Idea, the largest telecom operator in the case of customers, lost 23.32 lakh subscriptions and its base was 41.87 million by the end of December.  The total customer base of Airtel was 34.03 crores, which was 15.01 lakhs from November.

On the field-wise membership trend, TRAI said that “during the month of December 2018, all service sectors except North-East showed positive monthly growth in their wireless customers”.

“In December 2018, 4.76 million customers submitted their requests for Mobile Number Portability (MNP). Only private telecom operators Airtel and Vodafone Idea added 15213 and 9027 new fixed-line customers in December. Broadband subscriber base grew 1.3 percent to 51.8 million in November, which was 51.1 million in November. This segment was dominated by mobile devices which were responsible for 49.99 million connections. Fixed broadband connection was 1.81 million. Reliance Jio topped the chart with 28 million broadband subscribers. After this, 10.79 crore subscribers with Vodafone Idea, 10 million from Bharti Airtel, 2 million from BSNL and 22.6 lakh connections from Tata Teleservices Group.
